Conference for African Ministers of Finance and of Education on: Sustaining the Education and Economic Momentum in Africa amidst the Current Global Financial Crisis
Jointly organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Bank (WB), with the support of the donor partners of the Education for All Fast Track Initiative (EFA FTI)
Purpose and coverage: This conference will engage ministers of finance and of education from 30 African countries in a dialogue, among themselves and with their external partners, on options to sustain and strengthen—in the current context of a global economic slowdown—Africa’s remarkable achievements in education and economic development over the past decade. It will consider the challenges of a more holistic approach to human capital development, one that offers African children and youth a chance to receive a basic education of decent quality and opportunities for further advancement; as well as provides prospective employers with an educated and skilled workforce to grow their businesses and contribute to Africa’s economic transformation for success in the global economy.
