Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

The Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre within the Faculty of Education wishes to appoint a Research Assistant to work on a research project to map education research from sub-Saharan Africa.

The project aims to increase the visibility and impact of education research conducted by researchers, institutions and networks in Africa. This involves identifying, cataloguing, reviewing and synthesising policy-relevant education research from the region. The postholder will use the project protocol to identify relevant studies for inclusion in the database and support the project through analysis and reporting. The postholder will work with Dr Rafael Mitchell under the direction of Professor Pauline Rose.

Applicants must hold a Masters or PhD in a relevant subject area; have excellent skills in research in particular analysis of literature; an ability to catalogue and critically review reports and other documents, and to prepare drafts of reports emerging from this analysis to a high standard. The post holder will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders. An ability to read French and/ or an African language would be desirable.

The salary range for the position is £25,728 - £30,688 per annum.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 13 months in the first instance.
