ADEA invited by ERNWACA to help implement its new strategic plan

ADEA attended a donors’ and partners’ meeting organized by the Educational Research Network for West and Central Africa (ERNWACA) in Ouagadougou, February 13-14, 2014. The objective of the meeting was to reinvigorate partnerships with institutions ERNAWACA intends to work with to implement its new Strategic Plan. ADEA was represented at this gathering by Ibrahima Bah-Lalya, the Coordinator of the Working Group on Non Formal Education (WGNFE).

During the gathering several donors pledged to support ERNWACA through various means including working together on common projects and programs.

Mr. Bah-Lalya reaffirmed ADEA’s willingness to strengthen the partnership between the two organizations and suggested the following areas of collaboration:
•    studies on the use of ICT to boost woman literacy in rural areas and strengthening networks for the vulnerable African Youth;
•    the stocktaking exercise on indigenous knowledge in Africa which WGNFE is launching;
•    Koranic schooling, which can be used as a venue to care for dropout and unschooled African youth. ERNWACA’s work on Koranic Schooling and WGNFE’s paper on Koranic traditional education in the Sahel-Saharan region constitute an excellent basis for such collaboration.

ADEA also offered to serve as a platform where ERNWACA’s voice can be heard by African Ministers of Education, development partners and other stakeholders in education, including civil society.

WGNFE staff and ERNWACA will get in touch to further explore these potential areas of cooperation.
