Commission on Education Policy Research in Sub-Saharan
Africa

- Education Research Network for Eastern and Southern Africa (ERNESA)
- Education Research Network for West and Central Africa (ERNWACA)
- Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA)
This Commission will focus on research agendas, methodological
issues, and strategies for informed education policy development and
management in the African context. Contributions from the international
research community with a sustained focus on policy research in Sub-Saharan
Africa are welcome. Preference will be given to papers by African
researchers and policy-makers. Examples (not exclusive) of topics
for papers for the commission include:
(a) research as an actor in the process of education
policy development and management;
(b) research on policies relating to education sub-sectors:
early childhood, primary, secondary, vocational and technological,
non-formal, and higher education; and,
(c) research on policies and practices pertaining
to specific topics such as:
(i) the publication, supply and use of textbooks;
(ii) education financing, management and planning;
(iii) the teaching profession;
(iv) information systems and how they relate to policy development;
(v) policy implementation;
(vi) monitoring and evaluation;
(vii) educational equity, quality, relevance and efficiency;
(viii) the processes of educational policy formulation.
