The Rossing Foundation strives towards the empowerment of Namibians : communities and individuals derive additional skills and knowledge to improve their quality of life through education and training. The Foundation focuses on adult basic education; offers a broad range of further learning programmes for adults, and through its own activities provided opportunities for 1 300 learners to acquire new vocational skills.

L'un des objectifs du CAEB est d'oeuvrer pour l'éducation de base des enfants, des femmes, des adultes en assurant leur alphabétisation et en regroupant quelques-uns sur des projets générateurs de revenus, dans la perspective d'un développement intégré, d'un développement durable et de l'Education pour Tous (EPT). A la demande du GTENF de l'ADEA, le CAEB, en collaboration avec les C3A, a organisé et coordonné une Assemblée Générale constitutive du GNTENF - Bénin. A l'issue des travaux de cette assemblée un Bureau Directeur de 5 membres a été élu.


Participatory Nonformal Education: The TOSTAN Basic Education Program, Senegal

Through extensive experiment and support from the Senegalese government, the United Nations Children's fund (UNICEF), and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), a team of nonformal educational specialists developed a six-module program throughout which literacy is linked to life skills. From its inception in 1988, the TOSTAN Basic Education Program has gone beyond literacy to give learners the means to define and solve problems, improve their families' health, and start small-scale projects in response to local needs.

Project Literacy is a 24 year old Non-Government Organisation working in the field of Adult Basic Education and Training in South Africa . It reaches 2500 Adult Learners annually at centres in Gauteng and Middelburg ( Cape ). 67 community based organisations are presently serviced nationwide. 10 000 learners are reached through these programmes.

With CARE, Plan-International, Save the Children, SWAA, WCRP, and World Vision, The Hope for African Children Initiative is a community-based, pan-African effort created to address the enormous challenges faced by more than the 13 million children who have been orphaned by the AIDS pandemic in Africa and the millions more whose parents are sick or dying of AIDS-related illnesses. Established in the summer of 2000, this unique partnership brings together six organizations that share an international focus with the purpose of increasing the capacity of African communities to provide care, services and assistance to children affected by HIV/AIDS and their families.
