Africa has a Champion for Foundational Learning

The President of the Republic of Zambia, His Excellency, Mr Hakainde Hichilema has accepted to be the Champion of Foundational Learning (FL) in Africa. This is a major milestone in FL advocacy. In a letter dated 18th April 2024, from the Ministry of Education Zambia and addressed to ADEA, the President acknowledged the honour of being the face of FL in Africa.

Spotlight on primary education completion and foundational learning in Uganda

ADEA and UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report (UNESCO GEMR) launched a new country report on Thursday 18^th April, that places the spotlight on foundational literacy and numeracy in Uganda. This was on the margins of the Foundations for Learning Conference organised by the Aga Khan University in Kampala. GEMR and ADEA collaborated with the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports to conduct the study that resulted in the country report.
