Control over the "statistics chain" is the essential component for successful steering of any education system. Since 1997, the SISED/NESIS has worked on the promotion and development of methodological and technical tools designed to help countries in sub-Saharan Africa ensure reliable data collection and then processing of their statistical education data. A number of countries now use this approach, which combines rigour and flexibility across the "statistics chain".
