Country:

The annual Global EFA (Education for All) Meeting brings together representatives of UNESCO Member States, EFA convening agencies, bilateral agencies, United Nations and regional organizations, civil society organizations, the private sector, research institutes and foundations. Its main purpose is to critically assess progress towards EFA based on the EFA Global Monitoring Report and regional reports, and to agree on tangible actions for follow-up.

The 2014 Global Education for All Meeting (GEM) will be the last global meeting of all EFA partners before the World Education Forum 2015 in Korea, which will mark the target date of the Dakar goals. Efforts towards achieving EFA since the year 2000 have yielded unprecedented progress. However, the EFA and Millennium Development Goal education agendas will remain unfinished by 2015 and the continued relevance and importance of the EFA agenda are recognized.

At the 2014 GEM, key decisions will be taken with regard to actions up to 2015 and the post-2015 education agenda.
