"Trends in Education: Policies and Strategies for Quality, Competency and Internationalisation"

Event Overview

Education is critical to the economic success and the long-term development of any nation, and in order for Africa to compete in the globalised world drastic changes to our education system and delivery are needed. Certainly a lot of time and resources have been invested in the advancement of the African education system thus far. It is however, vital that we also ensure that the right foundation is laid, and the necessary policies are developed for the implementation and delivery of these important advances. Indeed, in order for Africa to triumph in its goal to modernize its education systems, each country must build its system on durable and effective policies.

Africa requires policies and procedures designed to reach all learners while making maximum use of the resources available; with policies that are made for the right reasons and managed by the right persons. Furthermore, these policies must give the impetus to quality, by modelling teaching and learning to meet the challenges of the current world and its future development. They must be built from a clear vision of the impact Africa seeks to achieve through education.

The African Leaders in Education Forum 2015 is a meeting point for leaders in education to share ideas and learn from each other. The theme for the forum is Trends in Education: Policies and Strategies for Quality, Competency and Internationalisation and the forum will to highlight key strategies to achieve this goal. The forum aims to Inform and inspire through the events presentations and debates, but also from the informal discussions and exchanges that will ensue during this unique platform.

About ALE

As the African leaders weigh next steps on the future of education and skills, the African Leaders in Education Forum aims to provide the latest thinking on the critical importance of education and will highlight what can be done to ensure that sustainable policies and strategies are developed in order to achieve quality, competency and internationalisation. The forum will provide a platform for a critical review of existing and new ideas, perspectives and frameworks for the development of education in Africa using relevant analyses and case studies.

African Leaders in Education Forum is a two-day event and will start a day before the African Resources and Technology for Education (ARTE) show; the largest education resources exhibition in West Africa, which is organised by both Worldview Group and the British Educational Suppliers Association; the organisers of the World Education Forum in the UK. Part of the agenda on the last day of the forum is to allow the leaders in education to see the latest technology and resources available in support of learning and teaching.

After the successful inauguration of the event in Nigeria in 2014, We are delighted to bring this forum to Accra-Ghana
