SADC will present findings of Swaziland EMIS Peer Review

SADC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Swaziland is planning to hold a one day meeting to present the findings of the Swaziland Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) Peer Review. The meeting, which the Minister is expected to attend, will take place on February 24, 2014.

In November 2013, ADEA’s Working Group on Education Management and Policy Support (WGEMPS) and the Ministries of Education of Mozambique and of South Africa conducted the EMIS peer review exercise in Swaziland’s Education Ministry with the intention of determining whether the nation’s EMIS minimally complies with the SADC EMIS Norms and Standards framework.

SADC Member States have developed and customized a set of 17 Norms for Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) measured by key standards regarding the Policy, Resourcing, Statistical Processes and Information Dissemination practices with which Ministers agree all member countries should comply.
The SADC Secretariat is now implementing the process of assessing country compliance with the assistance of peer member states and experts so as to benchmark country performance. This will enable SADC to identify capacity needs of countries and look at resource mobilization to address these.
