Abidjan, November 13, 2025: Officials from the ADEA Tackling Education and Skills Data Skills Challenge (ESDC) initiative, Ministere de l’Education Nationale et de l’Alphabetisation (MENA), and l’Institut National de la Statistique et des Applications économiques (ENSEA) have convened a one-day planning session to develop a detailed roadmap aimed at improving data-driven decision-making in the education sector in Cote d’Ivoire.

The meeting, held at MENA’s conference hall, brought together senior education data planners, statisticians and policy advisors to:

  • Draft a roadmap for a national capacity-strengthening trainings and workshops scheduled for December 2025 and throughout 2026.
  • Define the roles and responsibilities of MENA, ENSEA and ADEA during the project implementation.

Director at MENA, Inza Meite remarked that “the Directorate of Studies, Strategies, Planning and Statistics (DESPS) faces a wide range of challenges. To leverage our expertise fully, we must work efficiently and effectively to achieve our objectives. DESPS is strongly committed to strengthening the education system by providing tools to improve performance and support evidence-based decision-making. Through DESPS, the Ministry of National Education and Literacy (MENA) has therefore established a National Student Registry to facilitate the sharing of student data between departments, allowing for more efficient and effective management of the education system."

The outcomes of the session will feed into the Ministry’s national education plan for 2026 strategic plan for education, with a focus on strengthening monitoring frameworks and fostering a culture of data use at all levels.
